Forklift Driver Training
Forklift Driver Training
FORKLIFT TRAINING AT LEKTRO AND WHAT WE DO
Firstly it is important to point out that it is a legal requirement for all employers to have any persons who drive a forklift or supervise a forklift drivers daily routine to have those persons trained. Large fines for non compliance are common and in addition your insurance cover may be invalidated.
So the right thing to do for a relatively small cost is to put all your personnel who intend to use or drive a forklift truck on a recognised course with an accredited instructor. Here at Lektro at our SLOUGH premises we can carry out this forklift training for you with our purpose built training area and training office or alternatively we can come to your site and train your people at your OWN PREMISES.
Our courses are tailor made to take into consideration the individuals skill level, ranging from a ONE DAY REFRESHER COURSE to a FIVE DAY COURSE for those persons who have never seen a forklift and don't drive a car. In between we have a THREE DAY COURSE for those persons that have driven before but have never held a formal (licence) certificate of competence. So you are able to choose the level of forklift training your employee requires.
Forklift Training costs from as little as £95.00 per person and our trainers are able to train a maximum of three persons at one course.
So what happens, well your employees either come to us or we will come to you, all you need to do for us on your own site is to supply us with a small room, a 13 amp Power Point socket, the forklift truck and of course the trainee, we do the rest.
HOW DOES THE COURSE WORK
The course is split in to three parts.
PART ONE deals with the daily maintenance of your forklift and teaches the trainee how to inspect the machine properly and what to do if a fault should be found.
PART TWO deals with understanding of the methods and risks involved in operating a forklift truck and a 25 question exam paper to see if the trainee has taken on board and understood fully what has been taught, where an 80% pass rate is required. And finally
PART THREE a practical course is carried out in a set out area to see if the trainee is able to operate the forklift in a confined area with relative ease, where a test result of less than 40 penalty points is needed to achieve the required pass.
All in all a pretty tough course, not for the faint hearted, but at the end a person that is confident and competent to carry out any task on any forklift truck that the employer may ask them to do efficiently and above all safely.
At the end of the course, the successful candidate will sign all the relevant paperwork which covers the employers legal obligations AND makes the employee responsible for his or her actions
A certificate is produced and sent out to the employer.
CONCLUSION
A lot more is involved than most employers realise on a forklift truck training course, and certainly from the trainees point they come away realising that operating a forklift is a serious business which requires 100% concentration 100% of the time and that most jobs don't ask for that level of skill.
